Lockable coops use latches and bolts that a raccoon or fox cannot nudge open with a paw or snout. The hardware sits on doors, nesting box lids, and pull-out trays. On the samples, the lockable element is most often a sliding bolt or a keyed latch on the main entry door and the nest box access.
The lockable points are metal, not plastic, on the samples that name the material. Latches mount through the wood panel or metal frame and catch a strike plate on the opposite side. Pull-out trays get a lockable tab so the tray cannot slide free when the coop is closed.
Colors on lockable coops run black, gray, green, and brown. The 14 inch figure appears as a dimension on one sample, tied to the door or panel width. Lockable doors appear on both wooden and metal coops in the samples.
A lock keeps a door shut, but it does not close gaps in wire mesh or seal a roof seam. Coops in the samples pair locks with UV proof or waterproof roof panels, which address weather rather than predators. The lockable feature is about entry points, not the whole enclosure.
Some samples are lockable on the door only, while the run or lower panel uses a simpler catch. Buyers who need every opening secured should check each access point individually. The lockable label in the samples does not guarantee the same latch type on every door.
Most samples use a sliding metal bolt or a keyed latch on the main door and nesting box lid. The pull-out tray may have a separate lockable tab. The hardware is metal, mounted through the panel or frame.
A lock secures the door, but gaps in wire or roof seams are separate concerns. Samples pair locks with waterproof or UV proof roofs, which address weather. Check every opening, not just the main door.
Samples show black, gray, green, and brown finishes. Color does not change the locking hardware. The latch type is the same across finishes in the samples.
On some samples, yes, the tray has a lockable tab so it cannot slide free. Other samples lock only the door and nest box. Check the tray catch if that matters to you.
